Dear Chris Wood

Thank you Mr Wood for all the arrangements. Also that you gave up your time just to get all the right supplies.  Thank you for all the food that you gave us from your big store.  Also thank you for all the other times that you donated to us.

The best part of it was making it so I think you achieved your goal of persuading us to make our own lunch. All the things that you gave us was well appreciated. The ingredients that you gave us was very delicious and the  vegetables were so juicy that i thought you got them fresh from the farm.

Since you persuaded me I really enjoyed making my lunch this morning and I knew what foods make it taste better.  I will be looking forward to the next tuesday.  I hope you give us different delicious ingredients.

My speech about Wildlife and animals.

Hi my name is Tamin.

Today I will be talking about conservation. The meaning of this word is protecting natural wildlife/Plants. We should conserve the wildlife and plants because this planet akshully first belonged to the animals. Some trust us and love us so we should give something back.

There are many wonderful animals and plants in this planet.  But there are some that are near extinction. For example the Moa I know that if you saw one of these big magnificent flightless birds you would want to keep it as a pet.  

To conserve you must keep and animal or plant safe in a safe pest free area.

One of the benefits we get from conserving is that your grand kids would be able to see the animals that are all kinds of sizes and heights. The Kiwi that is endemic to New Zealand is also flightless. This small bird will be extinct in 70 years if we do not take action.

So please don’t litter or kill any animals.  Because one day you will regret it.

Facts about crabs

Crabs are really amazing. There are many amazing facts about crabs.

One of the facts are that they cannot walk forward.  They can only walk sidewards. They also have really sharp claws. Their claws are used to protect them from predators, food and some use them to dig holes in the sand. Crabs are usually found in fresh water and on land. Crabs are eaten a lot in the asian countries like Japan, china and Indonesia. Crabs meat are made from the meat that you have on your ear.

The food pyramid tells us what foods we should eat.  The foods on the bottom are the everyday foods. The foods on the top are good to eat once a week or if you want to be more healthy eat once a month.  

The bread, salad and wheat products are the most important food because they are packed full of vitamins.

You should eat a fruits and vegetables 5 to 4 times a week.  The vegetables are lettuce, tomato, capsicum and onions.  They are the second most important because they have protein in them.

The second to last one is  good because they have fat in them and we need fat to live. The fatty foods are Chicken, yoghurt, cheese and nuts.

Now these foods are the worst we must use them  sparingly.  They have loads of fat.  These foods that we should not eat a lot is cake, ice cream and lollies.

A report on seagulls

I am learning about seagulls.

The seagull can swim.  It can swim really fast  because it has webbed feet.  When it goes in water it swishes its webbed feet and moves forward.   

So the seagull can swim but it can also go underwater for about one minute or if it is just learning it can do it for thirty seconds.

A seagull cannot do anything without its wings. It can fly  1,000 km a day. It uses these to get to its nests. To get food for their babies and for themselves it also uses its wings.  

The beaks are sharp and can cut you.  When they get food they hold it with their  feet and tears it with its beak.  

As you can see here it has a good view of all the body parts that we were talking about.

Notice the sharp beak and the large wing span.

Germs?

What are germs? 
Germs are microscopic bacteria that can cause a disease. 

Do you get good germs?  
Yes you get good germs that can heal you.They can prevent disease. These are good germs They are really really small.

Do you get bad germs?
Yes, these are bad germs that can cause diseases like skin cancer.  



There a lot of germs.  

But there are good and bad germs.  The bad germs can cause disease such as skin cancer.  The good germs can heal  you. Some good germs can heal you if you have a cut or bruise.  You cannot see germs but you have to get a microscope and look to see germs.  

Evan comes to our school

Today A man from the bank called Evan came to our school.  He was from ASB bank.  Evan was talking about how to save money and how to spend it.  

We can earn money by working at a shop, neighbourhood, and selling stuff.  When you join a bank you get interest in the amount of money you save.  Evan told us about three different stories in his life One was about his cheeky mum who always tricked him.  The others were about his friends who saved money and one that didn't save money.  But the most best one was about his friend Maggie who liked animals and walked dogs also she  washed them.  But first she must learn the rules.  

When Evan was little he wanted a game boy that was 260 dollars.  Evan saved money and got Interest for saving money.  He saved 5 dollars and spent 10 dollars.  At the end of the year he saved up 279 dollars.  He bought the game boy and had a little to buy a Christmas present for his mum.

I have been learning about fractions.  Today we were drawing fractions of shapes in the drawing programs.

I was learning about feet and there are many different types of feet and they are used for different types of work.

In class room 9 does basic facts every day.  I am getting better and better in maths and Basic facts everyday. For the last basic facts I had 94%. My basic facts helps me with division, multiplication, subtraction and addition.

Today I read this book online it was written by Alison Howes.  I was learning how Understands how language features add to the quality of the text 

I am in Egypt

In Room 9 all of us were learning to take screen shots and how to use a lasso cutter.  This is a picture of me in Egypt.

What causes day and night

In our class we are learning what causes day and night. Day and night is caused because of the spinning of the earth. The sun is a ball of gas. When the earth turns one side of the earth is having night and one side of the earth is discovering day. One side of the earth that is not facing the sun is having night and the other side is having day.  Also the earth has a 22 and a half degree tilt.  There are one moon and one sun in our galaxy but the other planets have more than one.  It takes twenty four hours to turn around the earth.   It is twelve hours of day and twelve hours of night.  But when it is winter it takes eight hours to get dark and in summer it takes.  

How to write a quality comment

Today we were learning how to write a quality comment.  In a quality comment we were making connections being  thoughtful. After you read this comment you will know what a quality comment is I don't comment on peoples story but I will try to comment more often so people can know who I am and what kind of person I am.

Learning to skip

This morning I was walking to class when the the bell rang. Mr Ramkolowan said that we have to walk outside and skip. Melissa gave me a yellow skipping rope. We also had to make our skipping rope touch our shoulders.  We begun to skip a simple skip which is a forward and backward skip. We had a little space because  the people in the back of us were not  of us. Also we had to skip for 20 seconds of every skipping movement. People started to come to school.  We had a competition to see who was gonna skip the longest. I came like 10 out of 25.  After we had a drink and went to class.

Taekwondo

A few weeks ago we went to the hall and we saw a lady with a black belt. We thought we were gonna learn karate but we learned taekwondo. The first thing we learned was the tenets of taekwondo. These are the tenets of taekwondo.

In the first week we learned how to say the numbers in korean.We learned it in Korean because Taekwondo is a Korean sport.  After that we learned how to punch the basic. The basic punches are the nose punch and the belly punch. The next week we learned how to to the quick flick kick.  We added the two moves and we got a combo.

The third week we learned how to get out of a grab. This move comes in handy because if we master it we can buy us some time to runaway from our enemies. Then we did this for about 5 weeks of the eighth weeks. In the last week we learned how to break a board. I broke a black board. The black board was the strongest board of the them all the whiteboard was the easiest  The other boys did to. It was the last week and we were sad to let Mrs Robinson leave.

What are levers

In school we are learning how toys work.

About cogs,levers and ramps.

There are three choices but i have chosen the lever because it makes work easy.

A lever is like a machine that does all the hard work.  It is used in different ways. Some of the way that it is used in is scissors,wheelbarrows, Bike brakes and also pillers. In class we made a lever that lifted a table. firstly we tried picking it up but it didn't work so we made a lever. The lever picked the table up. The lever was made from wood. After that we sat on the table and the lever still picked up. The lever is  helpful. In the future there should be more levers.

How toys work

Today we learnt one way that toys work. So I am going to tell you guys how toys work. You can push a toy or pull a toy with a string.

I have learned that toys can work by  pushing pulling. twisting, winding and with batteries.  

I chose  this colourful toy that works by winding. You wind that little yellow screw on the side. This toy is from McDonald. McDonalds is a fast food restaurant. This toy has a lot of cogs and gears inside of it. McDonald have a lot of good toys that I could choose, but I chose this toy. I like toys that have cogs in them because it is just like it has batteries in it. This toy works by winding and when you wind this toy there are a lot of cogs and gears inside of it that spin and make things move. When you wind this toy the McDonald sign spins. Wouldn't you like to learn how toys work as well?

Hi my name is Tamim. I go to Glen Innes School. Room 9 is my class.  My kind teacher is Mr Ramkolowan and my caring friends are Samuel, Ifa, Paerata, Timothy and Wesley.  My hobby when I am out of school is playing games on my PS3 and PSP. At school my favourite hobby is reading. The band that I like the most is Linkin Park.  They sing so well.  My favourite colour is blue.

The most loveliest day in the world.  So hot that it felt like i was in a 200 degree oven. I decided to go to the clean breezy cool beach called Long Bay.  I called my caring friend Siua to go with me.  He did not want to come but he said

“yes”

Like any good friend and caring  would say. When we got to Long Bay there was not a trace of nobody at the beautiful beach. Me and my friend Siua said.

“Good for us”
So the first thing I did was that I jumped into the cold water full of sea creatures.  I didn't even care that I didn't get changed. Yeah it was that hot.  But Siua did not go into the water. He just sat and made a tall sandcastle.


Then I saw a huge wave in the distance I was ready with my board. Then It got higher and higher almost as high as the Sky Tower. It was a Tsunami. I Swam as fast as a Shark that is hungry and it is chasing me. I  talked Siua.

“Get in the car”

 He got in the car but then the Tsunami got me I was left Siua got in my big car and drove away for a moment i felt like he ditched me. But then I woke up in a hospital.  

I said “Which kind person brought me here”

 The doctor said one of your nice and caring friends brought you here.  Also the doctor said why did you go to the beach when there was a Tsunami warning.

“I felt like a dummy”

Learning how to swim

Swimming is a good so you don't drown.  At school we go swimming everyday. On Tuesdays and thursday we have coaches that teach us swimming. I am in the third group which is the highest group.  Learning to swim is easy if you listen .  First if you don't know how to swim you start with a board then with no board.  after all that you learn how to breath. Finally you can swim

I was born in the beautiful Afghanistan.  I am the second eldest in my family. I have 2  nice brothers. Also 3 smart sisters. I am 10 years old.  I like to eat nice, and cold ice cream. The reason is that it is hot here in the beautiful  New Zealand. But when it’s cold I like to drink sweet delicious hot chocolate. My favourite colour is blue just like the colour of our beautiful sky is. My favourite sport is Rugby because its all about tackling and i like tackling.
